[action: eastern route 29]
[Scar had left New Bark Town as quickly as he could when it became apparent that he wasn't the only one who had suddenly shown up. Questions could wait, and he certainly isn't about to out his identity to anyone who might be nearby.
So he can be found wading through the tall grass of Route 29 with a Zangoose at his side, whom he as named Amit. Scar is obviously still getting used to this Pokémon thing. The closest they have to creatures like these in Amestris were chimera.
Not a fun experience.
He moves warily, eyeing specifically any people who might be passing by. He needs to know if somebody is going to recognize him. So far, so good. But he never knows.]
[text]
The ledges at the southern entrance to route 46- are they impassible like the ones mentioned in the "Trainer Handbook?"
And if one were to go about finding manual work nearby, where should he look?
[action: south end of route 46]
[In spite of his text post, Scar is still lingering just north of the building that leads back to Route 29. No matter how he tries to climb the face of the ledge, he tumbles to the bottom. Over. And over.
Most of the other new arrivals are making their way westward, and this is precisely the reason that Scar is trying to force his way north. He needs to keep away from the crowds for now.
Amit, his Zangoose, waits not-so-patiently at the bottom. She knows what's up. He's so not getting to the top of that ledge.]

I'm sure everyone can think of something better to do than trying to climb those impossible ledges.
And there's Cherrygrove nearby, it takes three days to get there. You wouldn't get far after those ledges even if they were possible to climb, there's really not much to see behind them anyway.
[Not without help from people who've been here for a while, because they could get you anywhere, but... yeah.]
text
Whatever.]
I am aware of Cherrygrove. That is considerably bigger than New Bark, correct?
text
I figured you might be by now. And yes, it's bigger than New Bark, but it's still the second smallest city of this region. Most people probably get away from there pretty fast as there's not much to do and they're more interested in getting to the bigger cities.
text
You mean the Pokémon "gyms," right? Is that the draw to the larger cities?
text
Yes, and yes, and also in most people's opinion there's not that much to do in some little towns. Cherrygrove just happens to be on everyone's way to Violet City. They might stay there to learn some basics -- like how do you get a job and work here -- but training these creatures called Pokemon gets easier on later routes after a while.

Are you saying that there are libraries on the subject of Pokémon? Or someplace else where one could gather knowledge about them?
[Like. How are they physically possible??]
text
Probably? I'm not much a reader-like person myself, or you know, the type to gather information like that from places. But there are books and libraries and the whole world is based on these creatures, so I'm pretty sure you could find a lot of stuff to read. Or somewhere to gather knowledge too, though you get it by traveling around the region(s) too. It depends on what you're looking for too.
[...No, don't question the physically possible thing. You're not going to find an answer to that.]
text
I will ask around, then.
[Because yeah, he definitely wants to read up on this stuff. ~Books!~]
text
[When actually most things here don't make sense at all. Giant whales from eggs etc? Ledges that you can't climb and ohh yeah, mysterious animals and even trash bags with elemental powers? Sure, that ... that is completely normal.]
text
[Even just that animal fighting is completely normal and integrated into the culture makes Scar raise an eyebrow.]
