In my time here, I have come to find that there are a great many "worlds" that are home to people who wouldn't be considered human, but experience the same depth of thought and range of emotion.

[Even he can make that conclusion, now.]

In that case, what is humanity? A measure of physical traits? A state of mind? Something into which one must be born?

That is the snag. Humanity as a race or a species is a different thing from humanity as described by a person's actions. I have met and known non-humans who have higher moral standards than humans.

So why do you ask anyway? Sounds like to me that you've got a pretty good opinion on it yourself.

Because it is something that has weighed on my mind since being here.

[Actually since way before being here, but he's not going to mention that.]

So... Do you see things differently now?

I think it has been less a matter of changing the way I see things and more a matter of figuring out if I have been seeing them at all, all this time.

That sounds... Kinda complicated.

It was never a simple concept.

Don't we make it more complicated than it is, though?

I cannot answer that, as a human. It is not for me to decide how complicated it is for someone who is not.

I meant don't we as people - both human and not - make anything more complicated than what it is.

As a general question? Perhaps sometimes. But it would be naive, to assign that philosophy to all ideas.

Because the mind of a person does not work in black and white. Neither does the world.
