In my time here, I have come to find that there are a great many "worlds" that are home to people who wouldn't be considered human, but experience the same depth of thought and range of emotion.

[Even he can make that conclusion, now.]

In that case, what is humanity? A measure of physical traits? A state of mind? Something into which one must be born?

Sometimes the people who are human. Sometimes the people who are not.

It is important because it is a key part of a person's identity, in many cases.

then let that person decide instead of sticking them with a name tag that says human or not human

That logic fails in that saying something does not necessarily make it true. If a person decided he was a Pokémon, that would not make him a Pokémon. Species is not determined by one's choices.

you know you can say something and not have it be true, right? if some human dude says he's a magikarp, he knows he ain't gonna turn into one. i can say i'm normal or just like everyone else all i want, but it won't make that true either.

i know i'm different, but i'd like to be the judge of that for myself thanks. not have everyone else point it out or wonder about what MAKES me different.

Of course not. That is what leads to discrimination and conflict.

All I am trying to gather is what makes a human a human. There are people from my own world who are not human and who do not consider themselves human. And yet, they wish to be.

I am human. There are people in my life who are not, but wish to be. I am only considering all of this because they are significant to me.
